Watching Million Pound Menu one of the potential investors used the phrase food tourism so it got me thinking. I haven’t travelled anywhere specifically for the food ….but I have travelled somewhere plenty of times where I have experienced food heaven…..here are my potential destinations for some food tourism either for the food or the location….perhaps you can […]
With limited time and it being a first visit to Cape Cod my research led me to choose Chatham as our base as it’s conveniently located on the ‘elbow’ of the Cape and roughly half way along this fab spit of land just off the New England coast, south of Boston. I say fab because the […]
This post includes The route Where we stayed Interesting stop offs and attractions Internet research suggested that the more southerly states of New England might be best for my planned end of October visit to catch the fall colours. Of course it’s not an exact science and peak colours in foliage country depends on the […]
Looking for some foliage colour on the Cape we happened on Crystal Lake by the side of the Highway 28 near Orleans. Whilst not technically brilliant these are my favourite foliage photos of the New England road trip.
Provincetown is located on the tip of Cape Cod and so worth the drive to the end of the arm which bends neatly at the elbow of Chatham and reaches out into the Atlantic at Provincetown. A colourful town with a couple of piers jutting out from a huge car park on Commercial Street. Visiting in […]
Driving from Rockport, MA to Great Barrington along Highway 2 we had great views of the leaves changing colour. Needing a stop off to stretch our legs we pulled into Mohawk Reserve. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets and the grill areas and enjoyed scuffing through the leaves by the Deerfield River. By the time we […]
On a road trip through New England chasing foliage colours we came across the lovely little town of Harvard. Great coffee in the General Store and some great opportunities for photos. We were travelling west on the 495 Highway from Rockport.
When we pulled up outside Changing Tides B&B on Mount Pleasant Street I was humming Beautiful Sound’s Weather With You which mentions a Mount Pleasant Street. Well it was definitely pleasant and it was on a bit of a hill which led down to the ocean. I knew I would love it here because there […]
Right on the tip of Marblehead Neck, is this tiny park. Worth a stop off as the ride from the 129 Highway along Ocean Road takes the traveller through some prime real estate of the pretty New England kind. Clapboard houses with neat gardens, yacht clubs and golf clubs and wide avenues border the road leading down […]
Stephanie at Changing Tides B&B in Rockport, MA recommended the lobster at Roy Moore’s Fish Shack. Stephanie said Rockport lobster was the best ever and she was not wrong. This is no shack on the beach, it’s a comfortable restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean. Oh we had to wait to get in but then that’s only telling me that […]
