Are beach huts quintessentially an English thing? I asked myself that question when visiting the Isle of Wight earlier in the year when I walked past some rather spiffy ones in Sandown. There were a couple on the beach used for cycle and beach hire and a long terrace of bright blue with some ‘tongue in cheek’ names such as Some Like it Hut and Ace of Huts ….. you get the picture?
I know that there is a long waiting list in my area to rent one and I know that I would one day like to get to Southwold to see the beautiful brightly coloured ones there as well as the Bournemouth beach pods ….but tell me are there beach huts like ours in other parts of the world? Where you rock up during the day but can not stay overnight in?
