I came across a book Hampshire and the New Forest Teashop Walks that I hadn’t dipped into for a long time. We chose the Hamble walk as it offered both river and sea and with last Saturday being sunny we took full advantage. We parked in the square followed our noses to the river and quickly found the Common. Yes it was muddy underfoot but sturdy walking boots allowed us to cover ground quickly. The Common opens up on to Southampton Water and then the walk instructions headed us ‘inland’ back to the village and the very welcoming Ye Olde Whyte Harte where we enjoyed a gin and nachos. Here are some of my favourite photos.
Hamble is in Hampshire on the south coast, the book was published in 1998 by Countryside Books, author Jean Patefield.
