Christmas at Hinton Ampner in Hampshire- a photoblog

img_2445Well I must have got to that certain age as I am now a fully paid up member of the National Trust and where better to make use of my membership than visiting a local stately home at Christmas.

This year Hinton dressed the house to the theme of Aesop’s Fables. I haven’t read those stories for many years but in each room my childhood was revisited as I recollected those well known tales.

With a timed booking visitors are welcomed into several rooms that have an old fashioned festive ambience with trees twinkling and decorations telling such stories at The Hare and the Tortoise or The Goose that laid the Golden Eggs.

Had the weather been better a keen walker that I am I would have explored the grounds. However being a NT member I can return whenever I choose so definitely that will be one of my new year resolutions to make good use of my National Trust membership.
