Ulster Museum – Belfast

img_0201The Ulster Museum  was the reward for walking from the Titanic Quarter through Belfast city centre, past the beautiful old building that is Queens University and into the Botanic Gardens.

An unusual building it has to be said with a modern block as add on to a much older perhaps someone would say a more elegant building but it has something for everyone……such as  some replica costumes from the film Game of Thrones which I later learned had been filmed in the Belfast studios, some fairly ancient artefacts and for me an excellent display on more modern history. After doing the Troubles Tour the day previously it had thrown up so many questions that I still needed answering so I was delighted to discover this section of the museum and more importantly a lovely museum guide  who was happy to chat.

Entrance is free but you are encouraged to leave a donation which I was happy to do as the guide was very informative.
