Waking up and seeing the bright blue strip of the Gulf of Corinth was a fantastic start to a Greek day in Villa Nafpaktos. Located on a hill scattered with olive and lemon trees and high above the pretty village of Skaloma you could be forgiven for thinking in well used cliches….. a little piece of heaven ………..paradise …. I could go on.
We were welcomed by owner Chris who showed us around his beautiful creamy coloured villa with its terracotta roof tiles so typical of the region but uniquely decorated inside with Chris’s own artwork.
The front door opened on to a large expanse of living area with tv, books and music and of course the fabulous view of the Gulf. This led into a well equipped kitchen which in turn opened out to an outside seating area, the well kept gardens and infinity pool. Upstairs had three bedrooms dressed in crisp white linen and more of Chris’s fabulous artwork.
In the pool leaning on the infinity ledge is the best way to experience this area, the blue of the sea, the smell of the lavender and lemons and dinner cooking on the outside BBQ……Oh and did I mention the to die for sunsets?
The area is prime for exploring the larger town of Nafpaktos , the pretty fishing villages such as Skaloma and the abandoned village of Pirgos and a little further afield are well known historic sites such as Delphi.
