Perhaps my most favourite thing about Haven Hall Boutique Hotel was the window seat where I could see the English Channel and Sandown and Lake twinkling in the distance, a window seat dressed with many luxurious cushions and heavenly to sit on. Yes Haven Hall Boutique Hotel a little piece of heaven on England’s Isle of Wight just off the south coast.
From the moment the electric gates opened and we drove onto the sweeping driveway I knew that The Grey Traveller would be happy here. Located on the coastal path in Shanklin looking down towards Lake and Sandown this hotel could not be better placed. Our host David warmly greeted us before we had opened the car door and he soon made us feel at home.
This hotel has been renovated with love and an eye to detail. The furnishings are of a very high quality and the rooms exceptionally comfortable. There isn’t anything that David and Arielle have not thought about or included…….from air-conditioning throughout and amenities such as a pool, gym and helipad. The grounds are extensive and extremely peaceful and quiet.
We stayed in a sea view suite which included a large bed, plenty of seating areas, soft cushions, tv, a kitchen, luxurious bathroom with Penhaligon’s toiletries and thick white towels. The suite was well equipped for self catering and the location ideal if you wanted to eat in local restaurants. David recommended a couple to us and we enjoyed well cooked meals in both The Cottage Restaurant and The Hideaway
Our breakfast choices were wide with a choice of eggs, English breakfast, toast, cereals, pastries, fruit, yogurts and home made lemon curd which David tells me he helped to make….it was the best I have ever tasted.
So I will be back to sit on that seat, to have more lemon curd and to walk the coastal pathways again. Thank you David and Arielle.
I travelled to the island with Wightlink from Gunwharf on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne route and my stay was hosted by Haven Hall. Shanklin is an ideal location to walk the coastal path or to explore the rest of the island.
Looks very classy, what a lovely place to stay. Our favourite thing about staying in nice hotels, which we don’t do very often, is the cooked breakfasts and other offerings. Fantastic.
