It’s that time of the year again when the lovely Isle of Wight calls us over for a coastal walk, this time we are staying at the exceptional Haven Hall Hotel in Shanklin and before checking in we enjoyed lunch at Vernon Cottage.
We had time to explore and photograph this quaint tourist spot. If the cars were wiped out of the villagescape you could almost be forgiven for thinking that you had time travelled back at least fifty years. The Old Village is a tourist spot and I can see why with its glut of coffee shops and inns offering cream teas but never the less it retains its beauty enough for me to capture and share.
Shanklin is a lovely little place isn’t it and fabulous for a walk and explore. Nice food and drink too from memory.

The town centre is beginning to look run down but we loved the coastal path

The old Village in Shanklin is a lovely place at any time of the year, it is particularly good at this end of the summer as normally the weather is still good, I am very lucky as I only live a few minutes up the road
