Belmond Copacabana Palace – A gleaming broad building winking in the Rio sunshine and almost at the centre of the famous Copacabana sweep. We had a fantastic welcome from the reception staff who congratulated us on our anniversary and surprised us with bubbly in the room. From the moment we arrived until we were forced to leave the staff went out of their way to assist in making it a stay to remember. The concierges helped book tickets to reach Christ the Redeemer despite the day being almost sold out, other staff organised taxis from the door, served a fantastic buffet breakfast and looked after our room seamlessly……. everything you would expect from a first class upscale hotel. After a morning of exploring the shaded area by the large pool or the dedicated beach area were ideal to relax by, towels, soft beach sun beds and water provided.
The building is old school elegance, light and airy with a fabulous lemon fragrance as you glide through the entrance. There are plenty of areas to relax in, casual or fine dining available and views across to that famous beach. Everywhere is scrupulously clean and staff uniformed and non intrusive. We were in good company……. many famous people have stayed here not least Paul McCartney. ………. This is what we liked about the room.
