Surprisingly I came across Chopin in Urca, or at least a statue of him looking out across the Atlantic. Not sure why he was there but he did have a quiet beach almost to himself at the foot of Sugarloaf Mountain.
From the front of the cable car rising up Sugarloaf there are great views of Urca so this told me a closer look was definitely on the cards.
Heading straight for the beach from the Sugarloaf station is a park area and two significant memorials. There are parking bays which lead down to the sandy cove. The area was not busy but did have beach chairs and umbrellas for hire. None of the razzmatazz of Copacabana just a quiet spot to enjoy a great view of Sugarloaf.
Lovely pictures
