Being spoiled at Strozzi Palace, Cheltenham

img_4181You would be forgiven for thinking that you had wandered down a Florentine alley and opened the door on a historic merchant’s house but this is how I felt at Strozzi Palace a little piece of heaven in the centre of the well heeled spa town of Cheltenham.

Booking and communication via email was efficient and seamless, they provided us with details of parking areas which are at a premium in this city and also a code to enter the building and our suite. I would like to say our home from home suite but in fact this was so classy and well dressed that this was far more upscale than my home!

The building was originally an electricity sub station and the design based on the Strozzi Palace in Florence ……. a plaque on an exterior wall informed me of this. Centrally located  in St George’s Place this is made for exploring the city especially if you are walkers. There isn’t a manned reception or concierge desk but any questions can be answered via email or phone. A sumptuous continental breakfast of bread, jam, cereals, fruit, juice and coffee is provided.

We had the Palermo Suite and were delighted with the glossy black furnishings, the atrium which opened to the sky and the comfortable bed with its mustard accents. The room included plenty of storage space, mirrors, a Handy phone to help with navigating the area, small table and chairs, Bose speakers, a shopping bag to avoid the use of plastic carriers and stylish pictures. The bathroom was dressed with fluffy white towels and upmarket toiletries.

Needless to say we were sorry to leave the next day.

Strozzi Palace is part of the Mansley Group
