The National Museum of American History; Washington DC, a photoblog

img_7531I spent nearly all day in The National Museum of American History located on the western end of the National Mall with free entrance this was great traveller value! I waited about 45 minutes in line for security checks but once in despite many visitors I could move around with ease.

Three floors of American history and culture, a culture that very much overlaps with the English one when it comes to movies and tv so a lot of it resonated with this ‘mature’ traveller.

Three floors of education, entertainment and many interactive displays taking the visitor through the journey of military, political, transport, economical, industrial and popular culture….oh and Dorothy’s red shoes!

My highlight was the food and transport displays. Loved Julia Child’s kitchen and the all American station wagon on a family road trip. Great to see Jackie Kennedy’s outfit too.

All this for free, yeah you betcha!
