Padstow to Hawker’s Cove on the south west coastal path – photoblog

54773BA9-3575-4651-9A36-E6119DBD88D9Maybe it was the Indian sunshine or the fact I had reached a big birthday but the walk from Padstow to Hawker’S Cove was one of the nicest I have done in recent years. It definitely wasn’t one of the longest but it did boast a fantastic and rather unique refreshment stop at Rest A While Cafe. Perched high in a row of cottages the cafe garden looks out over Hawker’s Cove. Huge range of refreshments on offer and I had the best  Callestick Farm Sea Salt Caramel Cornish ice cream whilst I was resting a while! ……. I hope this ice cream reaches Hampshire soon!

Leaving Padstow and heading west means a walk past the harbour and leaving behind the town. The landscape rises and a well trodden path leads the walker past a war memorial and to a view point where you can see across the Camel River to Rock. We followed our noses along the cliff path past a beautiful converted lifeboat station which is now self catering holiday accommodation.

Our landlady at Cally Croft  recommended the stop at Rest A While and it was there we turned to retrace our steps but this time along the beach as the tide had started to go out…so glad we did…… the photos were lovely….
