Fishbourne is where the Wightlink ferries ‘tie up’ after a forty five minute journey from Gunwharf, Portsmouth. It’s there that many people see the Isle of Wight for the first time, it’s there that locals know they have arrived home. A tiny village hosting a slipway and a bridge that allows for ease of access for both cars and foot passengers to cross the busy Solent.
For car and passengers the transition from land to sea is made easy by an efficient and friendly service. With the printed booking slip on the dashboard the staff can then assign you and your vehicle to a row where you are then free to stretch your legs and have a coffee with a view whilst waiting for your ferry to arrive.
I remember this from a little trip we did to the Isle of Wight a few years ago. Really enjoyed that!
