This is the itinerary I planned and used in August.
Collected by a private driver at Colombo airport in a comfortable air conditioned car, this proved valuable as Lal acted as guide and driver when ever we needed one. He took us to Casa Heliconia a forty five minute drive from the airport. Here we spent two nights and a day relaxing in the gardens and around the pool with short walks out exploring the local area.
Lal collected us on the third day and our Journey from Kaleliya to Kandy was made extra special by Lal as he suggested a stop off at Pinnawalla Elephant Orphanage.
The Kandy House was our home for five nights and from there Lal drove us to the Viewing Point and a local spa for a massage, Temple of the Tooth Relic, British Garrison Cemetery and the Royal Botanic Garden in Peradeniya.
A two hour climb into the tea country took us to Taylor’s Hill where we enjoyed fantastic views of the area round. In the four days we spent there we relaxed and visited Loolecondera Tea Estate , walked the local pathways and Deltota.
Our trip ended with a mad couple of days in Colombo in Manuimpathy and we used local tuk tuks to see Gale Face Green, Pettah and the Old Colombo Dutch Hospital.
We purposely missed out the cultural triangle but this could easily be incorporated in before or after Kandy.
