- Who? I met Brendan just over two years ago when I was volunteering at FISS (FOMO Independent Senior School) in Mulanje, Malawi. At that time he was preparing to run the length of Malawi to raise funds for a much needed art and science block for the school. He was supported by Emma Timmis and he raised the money he had set out to achieve…..and if that wasn’t enough! ……..
- Where and When? He is now in Zambia running across the continent of Africa. He is over half way of his 4000km challenge running from the coast of Namibia to the coast of Mozambique and as of this morning 370 miles from Malawi and oh what a welcome he will get there.
- Why? This time the challenge is to raise enough funds to build a boy’s hostel on the school grounds. I was lucky enough to be shown round the girl’s hostel when I visited and it was clear they were very proud of their home.
- What? There have been ups and downs along the way, the ups include the incredible support from both locals and friends across the world. People have offered safe areas to camp, even a room or a meal to keep Brendan and his team going, he is truly grateful for these comforts. The downs? well let’s just say those feet have taken a pounding and look very sore on those daily social media updates! Well done Brendan I know you will meet your challenge, I know those boys will get that hostel and I know that Mary and team FOMO will be speechless when they do. Keep going big guy!
