The beauty of a city visit can be enhanced by a trip to the seaside by jumping on the Tyne and Wear Metro and travelling east. Within half an hour you have left the busy metropolis and emerged at a beautiful Victorian station complete with bunting heralding your arrival. Broad expanses of beach, large Victorian villas and a small town with independent shops and cafes is enough to blow the city cobwebs away. Highlights for me was the gloriously pretty entrance to the grand Razzberry Bazaar a veritable Aladdin’s cave of gifts, trinkets, clothing and decoration all artfully displayed in colour themes. Tyne mouth is also host to a market at weekends.
