Wat Mong Chai Kol temple in Chiang Mai – photoblog

F0E8D682-D6A3-4973-9C1E-F7E7E630CDE3The Wat Chai Kol temple is on the western banks of the River Ping two blocks away from the old city of Chiang Mai. I came across this temple by accident when looking for the Mae Ping River Cruise and so glad that I did as it became my favourite Chiang Mai temple.

As with all the temples I entered in this area I was welcomed, local people seem very happy for travellers to enjoy their beautiful buildings. It is customary to take off shoes before entering and to be covered across the shoulders and knees in respect as many people are visiting these temples to pray.

The dominant feature of many Asian temples are the golden buddhas and other decorations but this one had dragons in the shape of crocodiles which I was rather taken with….see what you think.
