In recent years I get to visit Oxford maybe once or twice annually and each time I go I learn something new. This time I learned that Charles Dodgson aka Lewis Carroll was a maths master at Christchurch College. I had been wondering why so many Alice references in the area! Not least at Cafe Loko where the walls are decorated with Alice pictures and there is a great view of Christ Church.
If you need a rest from the crowded city streets make your way to St Aldates and enter the meadow turning right which will bring you down to the Thames where usually there are a few tethered barges. If you walk around the meadow you will meet the confluence of the Rivers Cherwell and Thames, with boat trips and benches to sit on. Free admission. You can also reach the meadow via the High Street.
Cafe Loco is situated on the junction of Rose Place and St Aldates.
