I think I should insist that all over seas and domestic travellers visit Oxford , it truly is a place of dreaming spires, literary aspirations and academic reverence…… but also accessible to us mere mortals, here are the reasons why you should go whatever the English weather!

Bicycles, Barges and Boats of all kinds are scattered across the city, bikes are the transport of the students and they are left everywhere. pretty barges can be seen along the canal and the rivers and boat trips can be taken by tourists. Botanic Gardens close to Magdalen bridge and Magdalen Boat House.
Christchurch meadow where you can get some time out from the busy streets. Climb the steps of Carfax Tower or University Church of St Mary the Virgin. Visit Oxford Castle.
Spot the deers in Magdalen College Park.
An easy to navigate city with the Railway Station close to the centre, right next to buses and a taxi rank. Plenty of maps on lamp posts to sort out where you are and where you need to go.
No where is far from the next place, much to be seen on every street corner.
Drink a coffee at the decadent The Grand Cafe!
The city offers Hop On Hop Off bus tours.
A plethora of independent shops for retail therapy, try Podarok on the High Street. Walk your own Inspector Morse trail. The prison is now Malmaison Hotel so why not stay in a cell overnight!

Keble College is just one university building to spend time just looking at.

The beautiful Radcliffe Camera building and the new roof top terrace at the Westgate shopping centre. Take a cocktail or coffee at The Randolph Hotel one of Inspector Morse’s watering holes.
