La Garoupe Beach is a good starting point for a coastal walk around Cap d’Antibes. We were recommended this walk by Richard and Anne our hosts at the Vence cottage Don’t be put off by the long and winding roads that lead down to this area….it is worth it believe me!
Parking is free and looking towards the sea make your way eastwards through the parking area to an easy to see coastal path.
The sign post suggests the furthest point is 1hr 50mins away and the path does get busy with other keen walkers. I have to admit to not reaching the furthest point as I turned back after about 45 minutes due to the heat.
La Garoupe beach is characterised by upscale beach bars and bumper to bumper beach beds but there is access to a small sandy public beach. A pretty bay and worth a visit if only for the walk.
- I recommend wearing trainers as the pathway can be uneven and steep in places. You are basically walking along a rocky outcrop with fantastic views over the deep blue Mediterranean.
- Take water
- Go early morning to avoid the heat.
