The Harbourmaster Hotel in Aberaeron, Wales – Unique, boutique and fantastic customer service. Couldn’t ask for a better location looking over the pretty harbour and out to Cardigan Bay.
As soon as you drive along the pretty seaside harbour of Aberaeron you can see the purple painted Harbourmaster sitting proudly almost at the entrance to the sea. The lullaby of the sea slapping the harbour walls and the masts gently clanging made for a perfect sleep in this little bit of Welsh heaven.
Rooms are named after locally built boats and our room the Aeronbelle was a schooner built about 200 years ago. Soft heathers and deep purples made for a calm haven after a day’s walking. Plenty of space, tea and coffee facilities with a tv what more (a cliche I know!) would you need?
The Restaurant and bar are very uber chic meets nautical, clean sleek lines and classy food served from a great team of friendly staff. I enjoyed avocado on sourdough toast and chia and pomegranate creamy yogurt for breakfast and some plump salmon cakes with French beans for dinner. Presentation first class and quality easily an equal tie.
Ideally located for sampling other restaurants in the town, right next to the tourist information office and the coastal paths, north to Aberarth and south towards New Quay. So to the Harbourmaster “diolch yn fawr” I hope I got that right! Thank you very much and hope we meet again soon.
