I don’t know if the name is a nod to Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray but Dorian House in Bath was a delight to stay in. As location is always paramount this got a big fat tick on The Grey Traveller criteria list. Perched on Upper Oldfield Park the views into the city as you descend are a welcome start to exploring this beautiful golden city.
The boutique style accommodation is quirky and my room with its Union Jack dresser certainly made me smile as did the view on to Dorian’s glorious well tended garden. The garden is available to guests and if you are lucky with the weather the breakfast room also extends out on to a terrace as inside joins outside as you sip your steaming coffee and contemplate the choices on the menu. There is a huge continental style buffet along with a cooked to order breakfast with many choices.
Toiletries well you know me…a sucker for decent amenities and Noble Isle products were a joy to find in the bathroom.
Yes I’ll be back Dorian House … you’ll see!
