Kitty Neale’s latest paperback takes the reader back in time to post war South London and a family which is ruled by violence and angry words. Gentle Glenda finds herself married to Harry and with her firstborn she has no where to escape to until a final beating ensures a hospital visit and a friendship formed with the loving Frank Myers.
As the title suggests , Glenda although keen to escape the wrath of her violent husband is forced to leave her baby behind and so mother and son travel through the years apart. The family does come together again in a way I could never have guessed. It keeps the reader gripped as the story twists and turns through austere post war London and the beginning of the swinging sixties.
Published by Avon Harper Collins and also available as an ebook, a great summer read.
