Got to see a little bit more of Montreal than expected when we met up with friends Iris and Ken on a recent trip to Montreal. They showed us home and home for them is the lovely suburb of St Bruno which is about a fifteen minute drive from Longeuil last stop on the Yellow metro line. Montreal’s metro is easy to navigate, cheap, fast and efficient serviced by stations such as Palais des Congres a large colourful interconnection which conveniently links Place des Armes in Old Montreal to the rest of the city including the ‘burbs. Palais des Congres also serves travellers with cafes and shops and links neatly to the underground city. In its concourse area it had bright pink art installations that looked a little like tree trunks? Not sure if they are temporary but interesting none the less!
The snow had been heavy on the day we arrived in St Bruno and the wide avenued welcome looked like a Christmas card, we stopped off by the park for a couple of photos and admired the real Christmas trees growing alongside the sidewalks and in local’s gardens.
Our day ended with a grand meal at Louis Quatorze where you can take your own wine and enjoy their beautiful menu I certainly lapped up the tartare de saumon à la coriandre, gingembre et wasabi, servi avec frites maison. Yes very much a French bistro and one that hopefully I will return to one day.
So thank you Ken and Iris for showing us your ‘burb we loved it.
