Well I didn’t expect to find a little corner of Morrocan so exclusively tucked into a steep stack of steps in St Peter Port Guernsey but find it I did! Hotel Ziggurat was a great find, quirky and boutique with fantastic views across the harbour and over the sea to Herm.
Clambering up and down Constitution steps was well worth the tight calves and heavy breathing as safely tucked into the luxe loft myself and he who likes to think he is obeyed could survey our island home out of a glorious wide window.
Just fifteen minutes from the airport St Peter Port offers a wealth of fish and steak fooderies, a handful of historic culture bites and cliff top walks…… But if chilling is your raison d’etre then sitting on the balcony at Hotel Ziggurat will tick all the boxes.
Tastefully decorated in the Moroccan style you could be forgiven for thinking that you had entered a riad in Marrakech, the devil is in the detail and the detailed decor is beautiful. Breakfast offers a choice of cereal, toast, fruit and jam along with a choice of cooked food to suit vegetarian and non vegetarians alike.
Hotel manager Paul made sure guests were comfortable, answered questions and served breakfast with charm and grace making our stay special.
Had we been there longer we would have sampled dinner in the beautiful beach style huts in the garden, tried a cocktail masterclass and tasted dinner…….maybe next time.
