Houston airport – have we got a problem?

IMG_2953.JPGJust returned from a great American road trip (Houston to Miami) after a break from the states for four years.

I duly completed my ESTA form online pre flying and had been given approval. Myself and friends joined the long queue or should I say we got ‘in line‘ and duly waited to use the self receipting computerised entry system and passed that criteria thinking that was it, we were finally starting our holiday only to find we had to join another long queue and go through a manual checking in! All this took well over an hour and a half…… still haven’t worked out why we had to go through it twice! Does anyone know?

However  we then walked to the Marriott Hotel at Houston International Airport and I can certainly recommend the air conditioned underground walkway after a long flight, it gives you a chance to stretch your legs after a long haul.

We were quickly checked in and that’s what makes an actual onsite hotel great you start your holiday straight away without any further travelling whether it be via rental car or other means.

We had upgraded to M club status which meant we could have access to soft drinks and evening canapés and the day we were there the lovely Patrina attended to us really well advising us that a beef stir fry would shortly be served.

The bar in the foyer is welcoming and is very much in the style of sports, I would have no hesitation in using this place again if I find myself in Houston. It was an easy walk back retracing our steps to the airport rental car area for our Chevvy.

Thank you Houston…will we have a problem next visit or was it me that got it wrong?
