English Lavender in Hampshire.

There’s nothing quite as quintessentially English as the smell of lavender,  and for two weekends in July you too can close your eyes and breathe in that lovely relaxing aroma if you visit The Lavender Fields at Hartley Park Farm in Alton, Hampshire. You can in fact visit the site to buy plants from June until September and their other fragrant products such as soap and oils throughout the year.

The open weekends are when you can walk through the lavender fields, take photos and enjoy a cream tea. There are also fields of meadow flowers alongside.

There is also plenty to see in the area if you are an overseas visitor such as the Bombay Sapphire Distillery or the Jane Austin literary trail.

(The Grey Traveller can also recommend a bed for the night at St Mary’s Hall in the centre of Alton).
