Brendan Rendall in Malawi

I had the privilege of meeting the determined Brendan Rendall  and Emma Timmis in Mulanje, Malawi as they prepare for Brendan’s epic run  in support of Friends of Mulanje Orphans

Starting soon Brendan intends running twenty five marathons in twenty five days from the north to the south raising funds for Friends of Malawi. His friend Emma also a keen adventurer will support him cycling alongside as they pick off the miles running south.

Both are no strangers to extreme adventures whilst raising funds for good causes. As I write this post Brendan is close to raising £20,000 before he even starts the run. This money will go towards building a new block to include science and art rooms at the local secondary school – the Friends of Mulanje Independent Senior School located on the main road to Blantyre. I had the pleasure of working with teachers there recently as  a volunteer on a scheme organised by my school. He wants to reach £35,000 in total and I hope he gets there.

The children who attend are keen learners who have little resources, sometimes even a piece of paper or a pencil is hard to find. So facilities such as these will enhance their learning opportunities a hundred times over and Brendan would love to see this being built before he leaves the country.

There are many ways to support Brendan such as following him on his social media links Facebook, @helpfomo35 and of course by donating via Just Giving, a few pennies will buy a brick or a pencil and these young people will be grateful for your kindness. I will keep you updated with his journey.
