The Grey Traveller and he who likes to think he is obeyed had a stopover in Stratford for one night only. We know the town relatively well and wanted to eat somewhere new as the Lazy Cow on the bridge sadly is no more. We did the circuit and Edward Moon jumped right out at us!
Very centrally located for the river, shops, theatre and the town’s hotels in Chapel Street we were met with a friendly service and for me of course a crisp white sauvignon blanc. We were not hurried to make our choice and I plumped for fishcakes and chilli sauce followed by a divine blackcurrant creme brûlée. I am a connoisseur of brûlées I kid you not, but I haven’t had a blackcurrant one before and I was not disappointed!….. I am still drooling 48 hours later!
If conversation runs dry be entertained by the pictures on the walls, we were bemused by the long black and white mural but our server enlightened us that this was young men looking out at Sonja Henie a well known skater.
He who likes to think he is obeyed was equally satisfied with his lamb shank and cheese board. They offer early dinners for theatre goers and I will certainly return when next in town.
