Afternoon tea at the Savoy, London.

I felt I was a proper grown up lady for a few hours when I visited the Savoy in London. This fine old English institution is conveniently located in The Strand and not far from Covent Garden so easy for us ‘burbies from the sticks to find. (Now I say English but I believe it is Canadian owned).

I enjoyed three luxury hours of afternoon tea, champagne and rosebud tea.  Loved the atmosphere of war time elegance, tinkling piano and first rate service. I made my  way through finger sandwiches, scones and lemon curd to die for, variety of pastries and a choice of teas……except I had coffee but then I am a bit of a maverick I suppose.

I was with two old school friends, old as in known for a long time, not old as in age!  We were thrilled with the opulence of the ladies toilet but then we are easily pleased. This is just the spot to celebrate with family or friends, organise a reunion or just go!
